No artistic skills are necessary for this program. Bring your sense of wonder\, and let’s have some fun!\n\n \nAaron and Angie Jungbluth are passionate about the Creator’s Creation – even meeting each other on a hike! With long time careers in engineering for Aaron and science\, nature\, and art education for Angie\, nature brings them both incredible joy. They love to hike it\, bike it\, camp it\, paddle it\, and teach it. Also\, Angie loves to draw it\, paint it\, and journal it\, while Aaron loves to photograph it. Not long after meeting on that fateful hike\, they became volunteer Conservation Naturalists for the Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) for almost 20 years now. Eight years ago\, Angie became the Resident Artist at Echo Bluff and Current River State Parks and now both of them have been volunteering by teaching a variety of programs for the Missouri State Parks. By becoming Certified Interpretive Guides (CIG) through the National Association of Interpretation (NAI)\, they tie their knowledge of the outdoors with proven techniques that connect others to nature at a deeper and richer level. They have provided interactive and engaging presentations\, especially on birding and nature journaling\, to the general public and to a wide variety of organizations around the state.

SUMMARY:Big Muddy Speaker Series April 2024
DESCRIPTION:Blueways: Partnerships\, Accesses\, and Programs\, presentation by Ashley Maue\, Park Ranger with St. Charles County Parks\nMissouri River Relief’s Big Muddy Speaker Series\, hosted by Greenway Network\n7 p.m. presentation (6 p.m. social hour)\nThe Bike Stop Cafe\, 701 S Riverside Dr\, St Charles\, MO 63301\n \nWe will be chatting about how St. Charles County Parks envisioned and worked towards opening the first blueway trails in our area. These efforts included partnerships with local agencies\, the different access points around St. Charles County\, and guided programs to help get the public familiar with these untapped water recreational areas. New features include self-service ipaddle ports\, new docks\, and more hiring.\n\n \nAshley was a Probation and Parole officer before becoming a Park Ranger for St. Charles County Parks and says: “it was the best decision I have ever made. I absolutely love my job. I grew up on a few acres in St. Louis County which sparked my love and curiosity for nature. It was an escape but also the best teacher of respect\, sustainability\, and beauty. I try to pass along those same concepts to the individuals who attend my programs. What I love about being a Park Ranger is sharing my love and passion for outdoor recreation\, nature\, and wildlife with all of my community. Parks are a necessary sanctuary for people\, plants\, and wildlife who rely on all of us for protection. It’s not about being perfect because there is no wrong way to enjoy nature. To give a person the gift of wonder is to give them something of infinite value. I absolutely love all the experiences you can have while in any natural outdoor setting and how everything can be a teachable moment. I can’t wait to meet everyone!”

SUMMARY:MRWTA/USACE Water Trail Cleanup and Cert. Training
DESCRIPTION:Cross-post for the Mississippi River Water Trail Association and U.S. Army Corps of Engineers \n\n\n\n\nMRWTA/US ACE trail site maintenance\n\n\n\n\nWednesday March 13\, 2024\, 10am – 1pm (Central Time)\n\n\n\n\n\nWant to Help Maintain the Mississippi River Water Trail? \nMRWTA partners with the US Army Corps of Engineers Rivers Project Office and the American Canoe Association to develop and maintain a Water Trail along the Mississippi River. The Trail creates a corridor for paddlers of all ages to get to know the River.  In 2023\, MRWTA was awarded a “Partner Excellence Award” from USACE for its work. \nMRWTA helps manage a 121-mile section of the Trail that runs from the Saverton Lock and Dam below Hannibal to St. Louis. The stretch includes 27 primitive campsites.  Volunteers are needed to help USACE audit and address cleanup at these sites\, replace signage and update the website. Equipment will be supplied (and volunteers will be trained) by USACE. \nTo volunteer\, contact Larry Hassel at martinhassel@att.net ASAP. \nFirst outing (will include training) on March 13th\, 10 AM start (Some flexibility if multiple conflicts) at Alton Lake Access Area\, water trail site 26-20 \nDirections: Off of 94 in West Alton\, MO. Located at the end of Harbor Point Road\, near the intersection with S Lakeshore Drive. For GPS\, you can navigate to the Harbor Point Yacht Club\, but continue on Harbor Point Road instead of turning in towards the gated club. \nThis is a land accessible site that needs a lot of work>  it is a good venue to check people off for training and get into it a bit with hanging signs and cleaning up trash. We recommend wearing good work boots and dressing for the weather. We will be providing PPE and equipment (hearing\, eyes\, gloves\, thick puncture resistant trash bags\, tools\, etc.) but participants are encouraged to bring water\, snack\, or anything that they would want for comfort. Depending on time and interest we could go slightly up river to hit a few more (dresser\, spatterdock). \nContact martinhassel@att.net for an Activity Hazards Analysis.  Not everyone needs to be comfortable doing everything on it\, but it tries to get an all-encompassing list together of what can be involved on these water trail work days.  Please take some time to review it beforehand because it’s a lot of reading.  Volunteer agreements will be on site to fill out if you do not have one already on file.

The countless benefits of trees are worth finding creative solutions. That’s why Forest ReLeaf of Missouri works with community groups\, individuals\, municipal governments\, under-resourced communities and non-profits in order to steward the expansion of native tree growth across Missouri.
